THE MANIFEST GLORY OF GOD

TEXT: EXODUS 19: 1- 18

INTRODUCTION: God’s glory manifested (Shekinah) is the divine presence of God. Shekhinah is a Hebrew word which means  “dwelling” or “settling” and denotes the dwelling or settling of the divine presence of God. It is the visible manifestation of God on earth. Glory refers to beauty, brilliance, splendor, power and praiseworthiness.

In the old testament, most of the physical manifestations of God took the forms of light, fire and cloud or a combination of these

In the new testament, Jesus is the manifestation of God’s glory. In the old testament, the glory of God was too awsome for the human eyes to gaze upon and survive. This caused God to permit Moses to stand in a cleft in a rock and see His back after He passed by (Exo 33:21-23). But now, we see His glory in the face of Jesus Christ (II Cor. 4:6), As we abide in Christ, His glory abides in us.

We can experience the shekhinah glory of God today through Christ whose death tore the veil separating the holiest of Holies so that we can abide eternally in God’s presence through a new covenant with the Holy Spirit residing in us.
