TEXT: EPHESIANS 2: 1-10; LUKE 8: 24-25

INTRODUCTION: Life, as you all know, is full of tribulations, which come to us in different areas of our life as individuals, families, church, and nations. These tribulations come to us in different ways and shapes. According to the Advanced English Dictionary, the word tribulation is an annoying or frustrating or catastrophic event. Simply put, tribulation is a trial or challenge which comes to the individual in our day to day life. Many believers instead of addressing such tribulations and trusting God for the grace to overcome, give up on them. The purpose of this study is to discuss the certainty of the tribulations, sources of the tribulations, and the assurance of victory over such tribulation. May the almighty God keep us in Jesus’ name.

(1) CERTAINTY OF THE TRIBULATIONS: John 16: 33; II Timothy 3: 12; Acts 14: 21 – 22; Romans 5: 1-3; I Thess. 3: 4As Christians, tribulations are part and parcel of our life here on earth. It is only in Christ Jesus, that we have the ability to overcome them on daily basis. Paul told the early church that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

(2) SOURCES OF THE TRIBULATIONS: Eph. 6: 12; I John 2: 15-17; James 4: 4; Gal. 5: 16- 17The tribulations we go through in life come from various sources of which one major source is the enemy of our soul, the devil who has a very organized system. The others are the world system and the flesh.

(3) ASSURANCE OF VICTORY: I Cor. 10: 13; I John 5: 4, 4:4As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are called overcomers in this life, not because of who we are ,but because of what He has done for us.

CONCLUSION: Romans 8: 37 – 39Although tribulations are part and parcel of our lives as Christians, they come to us from various sources in life. God allows them to come to us, in order to move us from one level in life to our next level. It is just like the examinations and tests that we go through in our academics which qualifies us for our next level. May the almighty God give you the grace to overcome the present tribulation you are going through so that you will be qualified for your next level in Jesus name. Amen.

MEMORY VERSE: I John 4: 4“You are of God little children and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
