BUILDING AN EFFECTIVE QUIET TIME- 1

TEXT:   MATTHEW 14: 20-27

INTRODUCTION: We concluded our study last week with the importance of prayer in handling interpersonal affairs. Today, we shall be considering the need to build a functional daily communion with God through an effective Quiet Time.

The importance of prayer cannot be overemphasized in the life of a Christian because of its role in communing with God, getting problems solved and dealing with opposing powers of darkness.

Jesus committed himself to observe Quiet Time all through the scriptures, leaving us an example to follow and we saw the early disciples followed His steps. Through regular and effective Quiet Time every Christian would be able to build a consistent fellowship with God; where we can interact and receive instruction and direction from God.

1. WHAT IS QUIET TIME?

Ps. 5:2-3;
Ps. 55:17;
Mk. 1:35

2. WHY IS QUIET TIME NECESSARY?

i. Opportunity to worship & praise His name:
Jn. 4:24;
1 Pet. 2:5, 9;
Ps. 103:1-5

ii. Hear God speak to you as a person:
Ps. 32:8;
Jer. 29:11;
Isa. 50:4

MEMORY VERSE: Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
